Our Philosophy
We built Street Cars Rater because we hate the way most insurance sites treat your data. We do not sell leads, we do not ask for your ZIP code to “give you a quote,” and we do not shove your email into some third-party marketing funnel. The moment you land here you are not a customer, you are a reader, and we treat you like one.
Information We Actually Collect
When you simply browse the site we collect the usual anonymous stuff that every website on earth collects: IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent, and referral source. This lives in basic server logs and Google Analytics (standard version, no remarketing, no cross-site tracking, no data sharing turned on). We use it only to see which topics people actually read and to keep the lights on with non-intrusive ads.
Information We Do Not Collect
We never ask for your name, email, phone number, driver’s license, VIN, Social Security number, credit-card details, or any other personal identifier. There are no forms, no newsletters, no “enter your info to see savings” boxes. If you somehow find a way to give us personal information voluntarily, we will probably delete it because we have no use for it.
Cookies and Similar Tech
We use a tiny handful of strictly necessary cookies to make the site work (session management, basic preferences). We also use analytics cookies from Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled. We place one advertising cookie from legitimate ad partners so the site stays free. You can block or delete all of them and everything still functions perfectly.
Third-Party Advertising
Ads you see come through reputable networks. Those partners may set their own cookies and track ad performance. We have disabled all data-sharing, interest-based targeting, and remarketing features on our end. We earn a few cents when someone clicks an ad; that is literally the only reason they exist. We do not receive, store, or see any personal data from those clicks.
Links to Other Sites
Some articles link out to public rate data, government resources, or comparison tools run by other companies. Once you leave Street Cars Rater your activity there is governed by their privacy policies, not ours. We try to link only to trustworthy places, but we cannot control what happens after you click away.
Children’s Privacy
The site is written for adults who drive and pay insurance. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13, and if we ever discover we have accidentally done so, we delete it immediately.
Data Security
Even though we collect almost nothing identifiable, we still encrypt everything in transit with modern TLS and keep the server configuration locked down. Logs are kept for 90 days for security auditing and then automatically purged.
Your Rights and Choices
You can browse completely anonymously, use a VPN, enable Do Not Track, or block cookies entirely. California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah residents have extra rights under their state laws, but since we never collect personal information in the first place, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side. Still, if you want to be extra sure, just email us and we’ll confirm in writing that we have zero records about you.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever decide to change how we handle data (unlikely, but life happens), we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. The new version applies the moment it goes live.
